24th Gurkha Cup Expands Main Category to 40 Teams

Organisers of the 24th Gurkha Cup 2026 have officially announced an increase in the number of participating teams in the Main Category competition.

Initially, the tournament committee had planned to accept only 32 Main Category teams for this year’s competition. However, due to the growing popularity of the tournament and the increasing number of clubs expressing interest in taking part each year, organisers have decided to expand the competition to accommodate more teams.

As a result, the tournament will now allow a maximum of 40 Main Category (Men’s) teams to participate in the 24th edition of the Gurkha Cup.

Tournament organisers stated that the Gurkha Cup has continued to attract a rising number of entries annually, reflecting the competition’s strong reputation and importance within the football community. Despite limitations in time and available resources, efforts have been made to provide additional opportunities for teams to participate this year.

Under the tournament entry policy, the winning team from the previous year will automatically secure a place in the competition, provided that all required entry procedures are completed within the specified timeframe, unless the team officially confirms its withdrawal from participation.
